Hey guys! So, today marks 1 month and 1 day before my double jaw surgery! So I think for those of you who don't know me, I'll give you a short & simple bio of me. That way you know who you're following, if you decide to do so.(:
My name is Kay. I'm 16 years old, and I love God! He's blessed me with so many talents and people, & I'm so grateful! I like to draw, sing, dance & swim also.
Here's a picture of me & my cousin from my uncles birthday party-
(I'm on the right!) & now here comes the 'Why do you need surgery' portion.
If you cant tell, i have an underbite. a BIG underbite. Plus my top jaw leans to my right, like a seesaw. My left teeth don't touch at all. ): but it's okay. On May 25, I get my surgery! This means that I'll be missing my last two weeks of school, so i have to find out how I'll be doing my finals. Note: I go to a performing arts high school, so our finals are supposed to be singing, dancing & acting in a group. But because of this, I have to do an alternate.): It will pass though.
This is the beginning of my jaw journey, and I'm so excited to be sharing it with all of you who are reading this! If anyone has any questions about anything, comment & I'll try my best to answer them.(: I hope you guys stick around for my surgery!
Love,
Kay
Hi Kay, I've just come across your blog and firstly I have to say how incredibly brave you are to be going through this whole process and the operation aged 16! I was offered orthognathic treatment for my underbite at 15 and I declined it because I was too scared to do it. So I am thoroughly impressed and in awe of your bravery :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope it goes well for you and I will follow your blog to keep track of your progress. Good Luck!
Thank you, Natasha! I've been planning this surgery for such a long time, I can't imagine passing it up! Honestly, I'm very nervous to get it done. But I know the results will be great in the end. :) Are you getting your done anytime soon, or is it still pending? Thank you so much again!:)
DeleteI'm at the very beginning stages, I have my braces fitted at the end of May, so I have a very long way to go but I'm glad I have finally found the courage to do this.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you for being nervous! I'm nervous and I haven't even started any treatment yet, the thought of surgery terrifies me (I am a big wimp though) :-) but like you, I just keep trying to focus on why I'm doing this and how much better my life will be after it's all done.
Have you got everything prepared for after your surgery?
Well it's great that you're starting now! The time of the braces will bypass FAST. I remember when I first got mine on, being so angry & never smiling. But now I wish I had. You're strong for even deciding to now! I know people who are much older now that never got it done because they were scared, and now it's too late for them. Just keep thinking on the positive side of it all!
DeleteI haven't gotten anything ready for surgery yet, but I will be soon. Within the next two weeks I can say. As soon as I start getting things ready (like food I can eat, medicines, etc) I'll be sure to post about it for you! :)
